As I was driving around looking for some cool old abandoned places, I seen this old school while sitting at a traffic light. After going through the light, I made a quick u-turn and pulled up to the building.
It seems like this was an old one room type schoolhouse. Through the front door, it looks as if it actually two large rooms. Judging by the windows, it also has a basement. A wall isdie the front door had "Monmouth Day Program" above a painted earth, and "The world is ours" painted underneath.
I am unsure of the actual histiry concerning the school. It did have a for sale sign on the front door, and a banner at the corner of the intersection that read something about save the schoolhouse.
I did look into Monmouth Day Program. It is located elsewhere now. It is a day program for troubled juveniles ages 14 to 18. They can learn about getting a job and certain trades.
As soon as I find out more, I will post it here. Until then, enjoy the pics.
